The name "Ferret" comes from the French term "fuiret/furet", which itself originated in Latin as "Furo" or "Thief" by translation. It is a name quite appropriate, given the ferret's penchant for running off with certain items they have a fondness for.

These items may vary from ferret-to-ferret, ranging from something as small as a tube sock, plastic bottle, or (in oft-panicked scenarios) a set of car and/or house keys, all the way to something far larger than they are. I've personally seen video of a ferret dragging a full-size floor mop down several flights of stairs, just to hide it away as it's own.

This particular ferret ("Waffle") enjoys to sneak off with cell phones (especially those in a plastic or rubbery case), hair brushes, sandals, balls of yarn, and the occasional Wacom Tablet Pen (much to the dismay/abject panic of my girlfriend).
