Subject: A Florida Cottonmouth. Camera: Nikon D7000. Location: Busch Wildlife Sanctuary. Date Taken: 06/03/11. Comment: Also known as a Water Moccasin or Pit Viper, the Cottonmouth is the only species of venomous water-dwelling snake in North America, and is capable of delivering a bite while underwater. This example of the Florida subspecies (shot through glass) is being rehabilitated, and had his lower jaw partially unhinged at the time of the photo.
The title is a reference to Lucy Liu's character in Kill Bill "O-Ren Ishii", whose code-name was "Cottonmouth".
Edit: Everyone's kind words really do mean a lot. I've been doing Photography with a DSLR for only 4 months now, and I've had such kind feedback in that time! I hope to pursue a career in it, and (having been self-taught so far) I hope to attend a class or two soon to help push it to the next level. Feel free to leave any comments you like, and critiqué away! I love hearing about what I can do to improve my photography as much as I love hearing about what I've done correctly. Thanks again!
